Na Briathra Neamhrialta (Irregular Verbs)
There are 12 irregular verbs in Irish (not including the copula!), to whit:
- bí (to be)
- déan (to do/make)
- clois/cluin (to hear)
- feic (to see)
- abair (to say)
- ith (to eat)
- téigh (to go)
- tar (to come)
- tabhair (to give)
- faigh (to receive)
- beir (to carry/catch)
The verbs clois and cluin both mean "to hear" and both follow the same conjugation (apart from the different roots!) so they are grouped together. The copula is not technically a verb so it is not included here. The following section will give their conjugations.
